What do I bring to my first class?

On your first trip to The Yoga Shala plan on arriving 10 to 15 minutes early to fill out a student information form and waiver. Or just do that here!

Please sign in on the class list before class starts. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle and a yoga mat. If you need a mat for your first class we have complimentary mats available to you on a first come first serve basis.

If you are a local and are interested in practicing yoga at The Yoga Shala, your first class is always free!

Dharma Yoga: Dharma Yoga is a graceful, yet challenging form of yoga based on Sri Dharma Mittra’s fifty years of practice of classical yoga. The practice is appropriate for students of all levels, from beginner to lifelong practitioners and accessible to so many because it meets each student where they are and according to their condition. Dharma Yoga has roots in all nine forms of yoga, including Hatha, Raja, Karma, Kriya, Bhakti, Japa, Laya and Jnana, as well as a focus on the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga) with great emphasis placed on Yama and Niyama.

Dharma Gentle Yoga: This slow gentle practice is ideal for beginners, those returning from injury, seniors, and anyone just looking for a gentle practice. Dharma Gentle encourages healing, flexibility, balance and toning of the body. This class starts with a gentle guided warm up and moves through several seated poses.

Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa yoga is all about movement, breath, and flow through yoga poses. All levels are welcome!
